The Passersby – A Tribute to François Truffaut

“Women’s legs are compasses, endlessly roaming the globe, granting it its balance and harmony.”
Over the course of a year, Alexandre Morelli photographed women in the Paris Metro, inspired by a line from François Truffaut.

Here, movement shapes the composition. The black dress tightens the frame, while the high heels trace lines of perspective. For a fleeting moment, these “compass” legs map the path of these unknown women and raise questions about the mystery of their destination.
